Recovery Resource Center: The County of Santa Cruz has opened up a Recovery Resource Center (RRC) located at 140 Front Street at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Downtown Santa Cruz. It is open from 11 am -7 pm everyday and has staff from County, State and Federal government, and other agencies to help you replace lost documents and apply for aid. The County has also created a virtual Recovery Center that has information online about all of these services.
If Your Home Is Affected: Please register with FEMA here. If you have a lost or damaged business, register with FEMA and then apply online with the Small Business Administration for disaster loan assistance. Congresswoman Anna Eshoo has put together a very comprehensive packet of information that is a step by step guide for wildfire disaster victims.
Voting for Evacuees: There is information on the County Elections website with information for what steps fire evacuees can take. Elections Clerk Pellerin suggests that people identify a mailing address of a friend, family member, work place, P.O. Box, etc. where they will be able to receive their ballot. You should do this ideally before September 14. You do not need to re-register, just change the address where your ballot will be mailed. Your domicile will remain the same. Please visit the County Elections website to change your address and find out all necessary information. If you do not receive your ballot for whatever reason, you will still be able to vote either by visiting a polling place beginning October 31, or by remote accessible vote by mail ballot (used by many overseas and military voters).
