Carpool and Bus Chaperone Information 2022-23
For the 2022-23 school year, Tanya Ridino has offered to help coordinate trips to/from Pacific Elementary. Please use the “Pacific School carpool/bus chaperone interest form” as an important first step towards saving time and fossil fuels!

The Santa Cruz Metro provides bus service directly from the West Side of Santa Cruz to Pacific School in the morning and a few options for transportation back to Santa Cruz in the afternoons. Beginning March 1, 2023, all youth grades 12 and under can ride the Santa Cruz Metro buses for FREE. More information.
Transportation to School in the Mornings
To support families in feeling safe sending their students on the bus, Pacific School parents volunteer to to chaperone the morning bus (Route 40) starting at the bus stop in front of the CVS on Mission Street. The chaperone can stay and volunteer or return directly back to Santa Cruz on the same bus. In addition, there is frequently at least one staff member on the bus.
Route 40 times:
We encourage our families to use the bus as much as possible. Using the bus creates the following benefits:
Transportation from School in the Afternoons
Transportation to Santa Cruz from Pacific School in the afternoons is offered through the Route 42 bus. Because the route goes through Bonny Doon, the trip to Santa Cruz takes about an hour (although it's very quick to get to Bonny Doon).
The main route/time that students can use to get home is:
Pacific School is extremely grateful to the Santa Cruz Metro for their ongoing provision of routes that match our school schedule.

- Santa Cruz High School - 8:03 a.m.
- CVS on Mission - approximately 8:05 a.m. - usual place for bus chaperones and many Pacific students to get on the bus
- Highway 1 and Western Drive - 8:08 a.m.
- Pacific School in Davenport - 8:18 a.m. - school starts at 8:30 a.m. for grades 1st-6th.
We encourage our families to use the bus as much as possible. Using the bus creates the following benefits:
- Saves time driving
- Reduces global warming and air pollution
- Supports the continued viability of the bus system for people who truly need it
- Reduces traffic and parking issues
- Improves student and pedestrian safety

Transportation to Santa Cruz from Pacific School in the afternoons is offered through the Route 42 bus. Because the route goes through Bonny Doon, the trip to Santa Cruz takes about an hour (although it's very quick to get to Bonny Doon).
The main route/time that students can use to get home is:
- Catch the bus at Pacific School - 3:55 p.m. - families must enroll their student in the after school recreation program
- Bonny Doon/Pine Flat Road - 4:15 p.m.
- Santa Cruz Metro Center - 4:55 p.m.
