Preschool Welcome Letter 2024 Welcome to Pacific Preschool! Just ten miles north of Santa Cruz and less than six miles from Bonny Doon, Pacific Preschool in Davenport offers each child the opportunity for maximum social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. The program provides a rich environment wherein children experience success, practice independence and develop confidence and self-esteem. Inspired by the pandemic, but now a permanent change, the program focuses on outside activities, with students spending the bulk of their time outside each day (weather and air quality permitting). Children, guided by their teachers, develop social skills and pre-kindergarten skills through reading readiness activities, counting, gardening, and nature. Creative play with a variety of materials in included daily. Music, movement, story-telling, 5-day read-aloud, and crafts bring the children together for positive group experiences. The curriculum stimulates each child’s curiosity and enthusiasm and sustains a love of learning. Students receive two nutritious meals each day as part of Pacific School's award-winning FoodLab program. Students also practice regular and thorough hand-washing. Staff and Communication Stacey Reynolds and Rosie Perez teach preschool, and is assisted by bilingual classroom aide Julia Valle, and classroom aides Ashley Chapman, Mailynn Flores, and Charlotte Wheaton. Our teachers are highly trained and have many years of experience working with youth. Teacher Stacey and Teacher Julia have been running Pacific Preschool together with passion and care since 2001. Teacher Stacey was honored with the Early Educator of the Year Award at the Central Coast Early Care and Education Conference in 2016. Our preschool staff believe that open communication between caregivers and teachers is critical.
