Independent Study:
A Hybrid Classroom and Home Study Program

Independent Study Overview 
​The Independent Study (IS) program offers a unique blend of classroom, home, and field education:

• 3 days per week of classroom instruction
• 2 days per week of home study, with optional morning Zoom classes
• Optional Friday field trips organized by families
• Parent involvement in the classroom is welcomed and encouraged
• Opportunities for advanced students to accelerate in math or other subjects according to their abilities
• School-wide enrichment including award-winning FoodLab lunch and Life Lab garden programs
• Support of a grade-level specific teacher who is dedicated to experiential education
• Diverse peer group including both other IS students and traditionally schooled students
• Convenient transportation by city bus
